19TH ANNUAL WINGS AND WHEELS CAR, TRUCK AND MOTORCYCLE SHOW COMING TO MUSEUM OF AVIATION OCT. 8

Warner Robins, GA -- One of the largest shows in the Southeast each fall -- The annual Wings and Wheels Car Truck and Motorcycle Show -- will be held at the Museum of Aviation on Saturday, October 8. The 19^th annual show expects to welcome another 250 gleaming show-quality vehicles competing for more than 100 awards in 50 different year-group and type-vehicle classes.

“We get outstanding vehicles from all over the state and even some from out of state,” said show chairman Bob Dubiel. “We have several local people who will be bringing special cars to the show – like Dr. Larry Rivers who owns several gorgeous mid-fifties and sixties Chevrolets and Mike Speight from State bank who has a 1948 Truck Dragster. We also have registered a 1969 Mercury Eliminator coming from Titusville, Florida and a 1937 Ford Truck that was used in the 1983 TV movie ‘Murder in Coweta County’ starring Johnny Cash.”

Each vehicle is judged on its appearance and appeal with scores given for interior, exterior, paint and engine. The top winners in each class receive Best in Class awards and five vehicles are picked to receive Best of Show Trophies. Awards are also given for Best Interior (Stock and Custom), Best Engine (Stock and Modified), Best Paint and Best Young Gun (18 and younger). A commander from Robins Air Force Base will also select a vehicle for the “Commander’s Choice” Trophy. The show benefits the Museum of Aviation which provides science technology, engineering and math education classes for more 50,000 students each year.

Wings and Wheels is a family-oriented show with no alcoholic beverages allowed. Registration on show day is held from 8:00 am to 11:30 a.m. and awards are presented at 4:45 pm. The Registration fee is $20 up until October 1 and $25 thereafter and on show day. Attractions this year include the “Savage” monster truck which gives rides around the Museum grounds, kiddie car races in the picnic area, “Cruizin’ to the Oldies” with DJ Tommy Landrum, a silent auction, food and car-related vendors and a cars-for-sale “Corral.” Door prizes include a $500 giveaway with $25 cash drawings given away every 15 minutes to 20 lucky winners.

Poker Fun Run

In conjunction with the show, a Wings and Wheels Poker Fun Run will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011 with registration at the Museum of Aviation from 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm. Pre-registration is not required. Any type vehicle can be used to do the run which takes players to several business fronts in Warner Robins to draw cards. The route ends at Hooters and Steak and Shake at Watson Blvd and Margie Drive up with a parking lot party with “Cruizin’ to the Oldies” DJ Tommy Landrum. Players may buy an additional card at the end for $1 and play their best 5-card poker card. Cash Prizes are $75 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place and several door prizes are also given out. Poker Run hands are $10 each and more than one player can play in each vehicle.
