Important Updates For Sebring, FL Sport Aviation Expo

Sebring, Florida, January 16, 2019 - Next week the 15th annual U.S. Sport Aviation Expo takes off on Wednesday. Pilots in search of the next best sport or light sport plane will be able to demo their choice of planes. Attendees will also have time to take classes, enjoy food at the food court, hear the Flying Musicians Association play on the airside patio or just hang out and people-watch.

Many options for attendees during the four-day aviation event:

  • Young Aviators Zone (YAZ)
    Youth are invited to come explore, learn about all things aviation and meet
    world-class innovators and heroes that will inspire them to pursue careers in aviation & aerospace. Young adults under 10 get in free with a paid adult.
  • Speakers, Forums, Workshops, and WINGS Classes
    Inspirational speakers, engaging forums, hands-on workshops for adults and youth will be presented. Below is a list of WINGS classes being offered:

  • A10 Thunderbolt to be on Display
    Lt. Colonel Dale Stark, Commander of the USAF Avon Park Air Force Range will be flying the A-10 Thunderbolt, AKA “Warthog” in on Friday afternoon & be available for viewing Saturday. 

The A-10 Thunderbolt II is outfitted with a seven-barrel Gatling gun the size of a Volkswagen Beetle in its nose. The Cold War-era plane has a reputation for tearing apart armored tanks and clearing the way for troops on the ground with its massive 30-millimeter rounds of ammunition.

  • 2nd and 3rd class medical exams
    This on-site benefit is being offered by Dr. James Drury, DO, MRQ, FACFE to pilots for the 3rd year in a row by advance appointment. The fee-based exam, takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on the class. Pilots are required to reserve in advance, by calling 302-233-3288. The crime-fighting Batcopter from the original 1960’s Batman TV series will be available for rides all four days. Guests can purchase a ride in the famous helicopter, plus see the Batcopter and Batmobile show Friday and Saturday from 11:30am to noon.
