Warner Robins, GA -- National experts in community based response to returning veterans and their families will hold a panel discussion at the Museum of Aviation March 8 at the annual Museum of Aviation Foundation Middle Georgia Luncheon. The “All The Way Home” luncheon program will be moderated by Thomas H. Bornemann, director of the Carter Center’s Mental Health Program in Atlanta. The panel members will be:
- Dr. Laurie Leitch, clinical trainer, researcher and psychotherapist and Co-Founder and director of the Trauma Resource Institute, a non-profit center which provides a neuroscience-based approach to enhancing resiliency in communities suffering from the impact of poverty, natural disaster, war zone deployment and human-generated events such as post-election violence, human trafficking, and genocide.
- Retired Brigadier General Loree K. Sutton, founding director of the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury and former special assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Army.
- Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen, licensed clinical psychologist from Washington, D.C. and founder of “Give an Hour,” a national network of more than 6,000 mental health professionals who have given more than $4.6 million worth of free services to U.S. troops, veterans, their loved ones, and their communities.
The panel was put together by Colleen Nunn, wife of former U.S. Senator Sam Nunn from Perry, Georgia, who will also be in attendance. Mrs. Nunn has helped the Museum of Aviation Foundation put on the Middle Georgia Luncheon programs for many years.
