Museum Of Aviation To Hold NASA Professional Development Workshop

Warner Robins, GA--The Museum of Aviation NASA Regional Educator Resource Center (RERC) will hold a Beginning Engineering, Science, and Technology (BEST) professional development workshop for K-5^th grade teachers on Saturday, November 12^th. The BEST program is based at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) located in Greenbelt, Maryland. Project Coordinator, Susan Hoban, will conduct the workshop. The workshop will be held from 9 am-4 pm in the Century of Flight Hangar.

The workshop will provide hands-on training for classroom teachers, pre-service teachers, informal educators, scout leaders, and home school teachers on Science, Math, Engineering and Technology (STEM). “The goal of the NASA RERC workshops is to provide educators with tools to inspire and engage students in STEM education and careers,” said Clare Swinford NASA RERC Coordinator. “We provide these services at no charge to the teachers to encourage participation, and to allow them to continue their professional development.” The NASA RERC STEM Educator Workshop series is sponsored and coordinated by the Georgia Space Grant Consortium and ORBIT Education, Inc. with additional support from Boeing, the GE Foundation, and the Education Office, NASA Kennedy Space Center.

The NASA RERC is located at the Museum of Aviation and provides expertise and facilities for helping educators at all levels access and use geography, science, mathematics, and technology instructional materials. These materials are aligned with national standards and state frameworks and are based on NASA’s unique mission.
