MUSEUM OF AVIATION HOLDS NASA STEM DAY FOR EDUCATORS

Warner Robins, GA--The Museum of Aviation NASA Regional Educator Resource Center (RERC) will hold the 2nd Annual Georgia NASA STEM DAY Conference featuring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) workshops for K-12th grade in-service and pre-service teachers on Saturday, January 28. The workshops will be held from 9 am - 4 pm in the Century of Flight Hangar.
The workshops will be facilitated by NASA education specialists and NASA programs members from the Kennedy Space Center. Teachers will learn from expert educators how to engage students and increase their enthusiasm for STEM disciplines using the adventure of space travel and involving them in authentic experiences. Teachers will take part in workshops that are hands-on activities, demonstrations, and various presentations throughout the day. Workshops will feature grade-level specific topics ranging from Astronomy and Earth Science to Engineering and Technology to Space Math and Space Exploration. “The goal of the NASA RERC workshops is to provide educators with tools to inspire and engage students in STEM education and careers,” said Clare Swinford NASA RERC Coordinator “We provide these services at no charge to the teachers to encourage participation, and to allow them to continue their professional development.” The NASA RERC STEM Educator Workshop series is sponsored and coordinated by the Museum of Aviation Foundation, Georgia Space Grant Consortium and ORBIT Education, Inc. with additional support from Boeing, the Flint Energies Foundation and the GE Foundation.
The NASA RERC is located at the Museum of Aviation and provides expertise and facilities for helping educators at all levels access and use geography, science, mathematics, and technology instructional materials. These materials are aligned with national standards and state frameworks and are based on NASA’s unique mission.
