Need Tie-Downs/Tail Skids? Or New, 180+MPH Tie-Down Rings, Tail Skids and Tie-Down Straps!!!

An article in an October 2008 magazine issue featured excerpts on aircraft damage from being overturned by high winds. Now there is a NEW Tie-Down Ring at www.aeromechtech.com for virtually all PIPER series which is about 8+ times stronger in overall structural holding strength and which will withstand breakage seen with present tie-down rings up to frontal and side wind speeds of 180+MPH!

This unique replacement ring design points the “ring” portion back towards the ground tie location, thus eliminating any high stress-inducing side moments on it, which is the primary cause of side load breakage, where side winds can easily bring 1,000+LB loads to the windward side ring (the leeward ring cable becomes slack, which makes the windward ring see all of the side wind load).  This design meets FAA ICO certification, has a PMA status, and complies with FAA MIDO requirements. The new rings will be extremely competitive with present OEM rings (about 30+% less cost) They feature a thick, .001”+ Nickel plating to withstand fretting wear from the cable, and will be offered in Buffed & Nickel plated or Nickel Plated with “Insignia White paint.

Another hot item is a NEW Tail Skid for the majority of all PIPER aircraft series, and which is about 6-8 times stronger since it is a one-piece cast and machined aircraft aluminum part rather than a two part riveted assembly. Also, it offers a thick Stainless Steel Strike Plate which eliminates the persistent drag wear seen on the present OEM design, and it, as well, comes in thick Buffed Nickel plating for fretting wear protection or plating with “Insignia White paint. It is now offered at very competitive pricing (31+% less cost than OEM) and it also has a FAA MIDO approval and a FAA PMA compliance.

These products are urgently needed today with more severe storms and high shear ground winds seen over the past 5-10 years, and with more undoubtedly to come.  There are also NEW similar designs for many BEECHCRAFT rings and tail skids, with FAA ICO and FAA MIDO approval.
