Transition® Production Prototype at Oshkosh!
Transition(R) Wings Out Oshkosh 2011 Square
Terrafugia is excited to be at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI for the sixth year in a row this week. The first of our production protoype aircraft is making its public debut at the show to an enthusiastic crowd.

This production prototype is the first Transition® vehicle to be built entirely from production tooling. Though not yet 100% complete, the aircraft is coming together well and validating weight estimates. Following the show, the remaining systems will be completed and testing will begin. A second prodcution prototype, Terrafugia's third aircraft, is currently under construction.
If you are at AirVenture, come by and see us at Space 23, between Hangar C and the Bus Terminal.

Dept. of Transportation Grants Key Exemptions

Transition(R) On RoadYou may have seen some of the international medial coverage that has resulted from a decision by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to grant all of the exemptions that Terrafugia had requested. Terrafugia's Transition® is the first combined flying-driving vehicle to receive such special consideration from the Department of Transportation since the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards came into being in the late 1960s.

By allowing the Transition® to use special tires and a coated polycarbonate windscreen, the exemption package paves the way for the aircraft to be fully road legal. Extensive simiulated crash testing and automotive safety features such as a purpose-built energy absorbing crumple zone, a rigid carbon fiber occupant safety cage, and automotive-style driver and passenger airbags, make the Transition® one of the safest light aircraft available.
