Site preparation commences for Sierra Industries hangar addition at Garner Field Airport

UVALDE, TX – January 20, 2011 – Accompanied by the sound of backhoes and bulldozers, site preparation has commenced for Sierra Industries’ expansion into their fourth aircraft hangar. Building on a 28 year history of business jet aircraft upgrades, Sierra Industries announced the start of construction for the 18,000 square foot addition to their facilities. Uvalco Supply Company of Uvalde is the contractor for the expansion, expected to be completed by late spring. 6,000 square feet of new office space and refurbishment of Sierra’s three existing hangars is planned once the new hangar is completed.

SkyWay Group and Sierra CEO Mark Huffstutler remarked, “Despite a challenging economic environment in 2009 and early 2010, we invested heavily in our institutional business, resulting in the award of several long-term government and private industry contracts that provide a welcome base of stability as well as new growth opportunities for our business and for the Uvalde economy. This growth in business has created a need for additional facilities as well as a demand for increased employment. We plan to grow our workforce by 30% this year to meet our rapidly expanding business. Thanks are due to Mayor Cody Smith who lobbied for us to expand in Uvalde as well as the City Council and City Staff for their progressive actions in meeting our needs.”
