Wings and Wheels Car Truck and Motorcycle Show Results

Warner Robins, GA -- The 19th Annual Wings and Wheels Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show on October 8, 2011 turned out to be one of the largest shows ever held at the Museum of Aviation. A total of 297 vehicles were at the show, with 274 competing for trophies and the other 23 entered for display only.

“It was difficult to pick the trophy winners because there were so many spectacular vehicles,” said Show Chairman Bob Dubiel. “But 40 volunteer judges looked at each one and we gave away trophies to the top-scoring 113 vehicles.” Each vehicle was scored on the condition and appearance of its paint job, exterior components, and its interior and engine compartment. And cars could get an extra 1 to 5 points for any special presentation elements like signs, photos, car history, etc.

The five “Best of Show” vehicles and owners were:
1. 1930 Ford owned by Jean Lancaster from Warner Robins, GA
2. 1955 Chevrolet Coupe owned by Bill Flemings from Perry, GA
3. 1957 Chevrolet Belair 2-door hardtop owned by Joe and Connie Tucky from Tallahassee, FL
4. 1966 Chevrolet convertible owned by Tim DeFoor from Warner Robins, GA
5. 1969 Chevrolet Camaro owned by John Hughes from Bonaire, GA

Other Special Award winners were:
1. Best Original Engine – 1969 Chevrolet Camaro owned by Ricky Sutton from Taylorsville, GA
2. Best Modified Engine – 1966 Chevrolet Nova owned by Lee Franks from Byron, GA
3. Best Custom Interior – 1967 Chevy Truck owned by David and Pam Gorman from Warner Robins, GA
4. Best Original Interior – 1968 Pontiac GTO owned by David Peebles from Acworth, GA

8. Club Participation Award – Corvettes Ltd. of Central Georgia
9. Master Builder Award presented by Johnny Johnson went to Hank Kendall from Warner Robins, GA

The winner of the Commander’s Choice Trophy this year was selected by Colonel Mitch Butikofer, Commander of the 78th Air Base Wings and Robins Air Force Base. He chose a 1966 Ford Mustang owned by Bill Peters from Warner Robins. Colonel Butikofer presented all the awards along with help from Miss Veteran’s High School, Kylee Gallavan and Atlanta’s Outstanding Teen, Taylor Peterson, a sophomore at Houston County High School
Nine out-of-state competitors came to the show - four from Alabama and five from Florida. The Warner Robins Convention and Visitors Bureau presented a gift basket to Caesar Lee from Venice, FL for traveling the farthest to the show – 436 miles.
One of the special vehicles on display was David Ragan’s #6 UPS racecar and a restored 1960 Ford “Mayberry” Police Car from David Ragan Ford in Perry, GA.
The Dance Explosion Team from Wrightsville, GA entertained the crowd and the “Extreme Team” Monster Truck from Williamson, GA gave rides around the Museum grounds.
