July 23, 2018 Frederick, MD - As a young child, Shokoufeh Mirzaei was initially terrified of airplanes. Growing up on Air Force Bases in Iran, she would routinely seek shelter underground as air raid sirens went off. However, that fear soon turned to admiration and a desire to fly. Immigrating from a country where it was formerly impossible for young woman to become pilots, Shokoufeh’s piloting dreams were put on hold for many years…until now.

PASADENA, Calif., DENVER, Colo. - July 16, 2018: Gearing up for Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), AirVenture July 23-29 in Oshkosh, Wis., two organizations collaborate to offer more than $10,000 worth in flight training scholarships. Today marks the official scholarship launch on social media, closing application on August 10. On Friday, July 27 at 11:00 a.m., a press conference will be held at EAA Press Center announcing this launch and celebration.

Birmingham, AL - September 27,  2017 – The Southern Museum of Flight September 2017-August 2018 Young Aviator's Bombshell Calendar, available now for purchase, supports the $5,000 Mary Alice Beatty Scholarship for women ages 17 through 25 pursuing careers in aviation and aerospace technology.  This year's calendar features young children as early aviation legends like Bessie Coleman, Amelia Earhart and the Wright Brothers.  Calendars are available for purchase on our website or directly at the link http://www.southernmuseumofflight.org/calendar/ and are $20 each and are also available in the museum gift shop.

Oshkosh, WI June 24, 2017 – Leading aircraft insurance broker, Aviation Insurance Resources (AIR), announced today the results of the 2nd annual “Get into the AIR” aviation scholarship. AIR received applications from pilots and student pilots from all walks of life, each with remarkable stories. Only one scholarship was slated for 2017, however, two very deserving individuals stood out prompting AIR to reward two scholarships this year.

Over the past 28 years, a total of $855,000 in scholarships has been awarded by the Museum to 293 deserving students.

San Diego, CA – June 2, 2017 - The San Diego Air & Space Museum inspires young people to tackle the challenges of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics academic disciplines, and to make a difference in tomorrow’s world through an innovative, adventurous spirit. To further this goal, the Museum selected 12 graduating seniors this year from San Diego County high schools to receive a total of $45,000 in scholarships.
